At John Deere, I worked on the Row Sense Project. Row Sense is a new technology currently used on sugarcane harvesters in Brazil. The system is comprised of a sensor attached to a paddle that locates the cane's position and can guide the operator along the row evenly.
I designed the mount for the system in order to protect the sensor and increase the life cycle of the paddle. I utilized Pro/Engineer software and was able to design a practical and economical system.

Velocity and Acceleration Analysis of a 4 Bar Linkage: Kinematics

The main objective of this Kinematics project was to analyze a four bar linkage's angular acceleration and velocity using a MatLab simulation. Four bar linkages are the building blocks of understanding mechanical design and more complex mechanisms.
By performing Jacobian matrices and derivations, the pertinent equations were generated for analyzing the four bar mechanism’s displacement, angular velocity, and angular acceleration.

Modern Fairytales Project: German Literature
Neuschwanstein Castle
When picturing fairytale castles, Neuschwanstein comes to mind which is probably why Walt Disney based his logo off of this breathtaking site. Prior to visiting Neuschwanstein, I took a class in German Fairytales.
The object of the project was to compare modern fairytales to the classic fairytales such as the Grimm Tales. I used recent TV shows such as Once Upon a Time and Grimm for my comparison. Utilizing my German language skills, I wrote a German abstract.

Formula SAE (FSAE) Engines Project: Internal Combustion Engines
FSAE engines comparison
The objective of this group project was to analyze engines used for FSAE purposes and determine whether the TigerRacing's Suzuki GSXR600 was the best selection. Also the project looked into the possibility of the team using a 1 cylinder engine as compared to a 4 cylinder.
MatLab simulations were performed in order to determine parameters such as overall power and mean effective pressure at full, medium, and low loads for the GSXR600. These values were then compared to factory values of WRF450 and CRF 450X (1 cylinder engines).
Although the weight reduction would be beneficial, the 1 cylinder engines were not very economical. The team would have to completely redesign the vehicle for a 1 cylinder engine to be successful.
